New Term: iPad for Artists

5 January – 2 February 2017

5 x Thursday evenings, 6-8pm

The iPad offers artists a wide range of exciting tools and techniques which can enrich your art practice. Liz Gascoigne has been using the iPad for over 5 years, as a regular part of her art practice. In this four week course Liz will introduce artists in how to use the iPad as a versatile new media. Participants will need to bring their own iPad (preferably an iPad 2 or more recent) and will become proficient in using the Brushes App (and be introduced to other Apps). The course will cover basic skills and techniques through a series of short art projects and participants will be encouraged to practice on the iPad at home between the classes.

Week 1 (5 January) – Introduction, demonstration – first steps using Brushes App.

Week 2 (12 January) – Sketch book for drawing, painting and design – Brushes App skills-sharing and exercises.

Week 3 (19 January) – Gathering imagery and textures, collages and merging photos and texts.

Week 4 (26 January) – Layering, saving and printing options; other Art Apps.

Week 5 (2 February) – Recap of previous sessions and incorporating iPad into your practice

The class size will be 6 – 10 people to ensure quality tutor time.
