Photo Oxford 2017 is pleased to announce its Open Call for photography submissions that investigate photography’s capacity to both conceal and reveal. The photographic medium is the perfect vehicle for an enquiry of this kind given its unique link to notions of perception and reality, truth and knowledge as well as photographers’ frequent use of the camera to lay bare what would otherwise remain unnoticed.

Photographers are invited to respond to the theme as widely as possible. Works can be from any kind of photography practice or application and the curators are inviting works that are, in particular, imaginative and provocative.

This is an exhibiting opportunity with a chance to discuss your work with Martin Parr and other optional prizes. Entries will be judged by a distinguished panel of experts, including:

Emma Bowkett – Director of Photography at the Financial TimesFT Weekend Magazine

Alan Capal – Head of Content at Alamy

Tim Clark – Editor in Chief at 1000 Words and Guest Curator of Photo Oxford 2017

Greg Hobson – Former Curator of Photographs at the National Media Museum and Guest Curator of Photo Oxford 2017

Alona Pardo – Curator at Barbican Art Gallery, London

Martin Parr – Internationally acclaimed photographer and President of Magnum

Forty photographs will be selected for a group exhibition hung in a salon style, with twenty selected by the aforementioned panel of expert judges and twenty chosen by our partner, Photocrowd’s community.

£10: Single Image
£20: Three Images
£30: Six Images
