We are delighted to announce our Summer Residency Artists for 2019:
The four artists will be working at OVADA throughout August on a range of different projects. The residency will provide time and space for research, experimentation, reflection, dialogue and creative risk-taking. There is no prescribed outcome; the opportunity is solely focused on the development of the artist’s practice rather than a completed artwork.
This year the residency programme has a particular focus on collaborative practice and the creative relationships between Art and Science. The artists have been selected to collaborate alongside four scientists, who are currently working in cutting edge biotechnology research in complementary fronts:
Frederikke Byron | Etiénne Raimondeau | Beccy Stafford-Allen | Silvia Vallini
Their fields of expertise range from chemistry to immunology, molecular design to bioinformatics. All have an active interest in arts and are keen in trying to bridge these seemingly opposite worlds. The aim of the residency is to be mutually beneficial and nurturing for both the participating artists and scientists, centered around interesting conversations and exchanges.
