Skills on wheels: Beaded bracelet making from Lagos, Nigeria

As part of Oxford Brookes University’s Think Human Festival, join Amy Harris for a hands-on beaded bracelet workshop inspired by traditional craft practices from Lagos, Nigeria

This welcoming session invites participants to slow down, learn a simple beading technique, and experience the power of making together

Rooted in the Skills on Wheels project—a collaboration between Oxford Brookes and Molaloche Concepts—this workshop highlights how traditional craft skills can support sustainability, empowerment, and cross-cultural exchange

Skills on Wheels is a mobile craft school based in Lagos that works with women and young people, using craft as a tool for opportunity, confidence, and community

No prior experience is needed | All materials are provided

By making together, we reconnect with ethical, hand-crafted traditions and join a growing global community linked through shared skills and stories

12+ years, participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult (The venue also has several steps up to the studio so it is unfortunately not accessible to wheelchairs)

Places are limited—advance sign-up required
