OVADA Health and Safety Checklist for Building Users
This is to be adhered to by all building users, workshop hosts and volunteers, please ensure you familiarise yourself with it before your event

Ensure that you have a working mobile phone with you at all times in case of an emergency
There is a landline located in the office however please be aware that the office door may be lockedFirst Aid Kits are located in the Kitchen
Please record all Accidents in the green Accident Book (kept in the Kitchen First Aid Box) and inform OVADASmoke alarms operate in all parts of the building
Please familiarise yourself with the Fire Procedure posters and Fire Folder (kept in the Kitchen)
If no member of OVADA’s team is onsite and you hear the smoke alarm sound (only if it is safe to do so), approach the relevant area with caution
In the event of a fire call the Emergency Services (999) and only use the fire extinguishers if it is safe to do so
Inform the Emergency Services that OVADA’s address is:

Emergency Exits: There are 2 exits throughout the building:
The double doors in the Main Space have a padlock which remains locked when there are no people in the building.
The key should stay in the lock at all times. The doors have an emergency push bar and open into the car park
The front door is operated by a single key and a combination lock – for safety please ensure that the combination lock is in operation at all times and the door is not propped open
If you have been given codes for the building, please do not share these without permission from OVADA
Lone working: It is advised that you are not in the building alone, especially at night. However if this is unavoidable, make sure someone knows where you are and when you will be leaving. Keep your phone on you at all times
Lights for the Main Space are controlled by the white switch next to the office door
Lights for the studio corridor are located on the right as you turn into the corridor. Please switch off all lights when an area is not in use. There is no emergency lighting system in the building however luminous signs are situated above the fire exits
You are welcome to use the Kitchen (inc. kettle, microwave and fridge) however please keep the space clean and tidy and bring your own refreshments (tea/coffee/milk etc.), using the marker pen to label items
Please use the sink in the public bathroom for any messy jobs (inc. washing brushes)
You are responsible for disposing of all refuse and recycling appropriately using the bins in the porch area
Please be respectful of our neighbours and local community at all times and adhere to the sound restrictions
Please be respectful of studio-holders and other people using the building
We ask that you leave the space (including the toilet and kitchen) clean and tidy, in the condition that it was found
If you are the last person to leave the building please check that all exits are closed / locked and that all the lights (including the toilets, kitchen, main space, foyers and upstairs) and kitchen appliances (excluding the fridge) are switched off
You will be given a named staff member as your point of contact
