TEMPORARY GROUND: OVADA SUMMER RESIDENCY 2026 EXHIBITION 27 August - 29 August 2026

OVADA’s Warehouse has been home to our summer residents throughout August offering space to experiment, reflect and create new work. This exhibition brings together the outcomes of that time — glimpses into evolving practices, unfinished explorations and fresh directions.

Bringing together the works of 10 artists-in-residence, Temporary Ground featured a selection of new and pre-existing pieces from:

Across the exhibition, questions of place, memory, identity and transformation surfaced in different forms. The artists drew on personal histories, physical environments and material processes, using the residency as a context for research, testing and development. Rather than presenting a single theme, the exhibition revealed a set of overlapping concerns and approaches, highlighting the different ways artists make sense of their experiences and surroundings.

The scale and character of the Warehouse played an important role in the development of many of the projects. For some, the space became a site for ambitious installation and spatial experimentation; for others, it provided the time and distance needed to rethink existing ideas and begin new lines of enquiry. The exhibition offered a snapshot of these evolving practices, bringing together works that reflected both individual thought and the shared experience of the residency.
